Rose Warriors @ Rustomjee Business School

posted Oct 4, 2011, 10:39 PM by Hanif Kanjer   [ updated Aug 8, 2014, 9:16 PM by punit valecha ]

Rustomjee Business School students participated in the Rose Warrior campaign organized by the Cancer Patients Aids Association over the past two months. An innovative concept to raise awareness on the need for empthaising with cancer patients and their family members.  This year the students participated in a fund raising activity.  More than management students managed awareness kiosks around the city of Mumbai asking Mumbaikars to become rose warriors.

Says Kavita Kulkarni, director resources development at Cancer Patients Aids Association, “The Rustomjee group of schools have been a strong supporter of our campaigns, and last year they raised Rs.67,000 for the cause, in addition to assisting us with crowd management at our Annual Event. It is important students are sensitized to the sufferings of cancer patients, and learn to emphathise with their situation.”

Dr. Hanif Kanjer, dean Rustomjee Business School states, “This is a part of our non-credit course requirement and students are required to submit a management report on completion of this activity with recommendations on how such initiatives can be made more productive in the future. Live projects provide practical learning opportunities, and the students gain valuable experience to become better managers.

Sneha Subramanian, MMS13 student recounts her experience, “We set a target for our group to achieve, and each and every student went out with a determination to achieve the goal. Running after Mumbaikars who were rushing to their work, asking them for their time and contribution gave us hands-on experience in selling and negotiation. It felt wonderful to be doing this for those suffering from cancer. As future managers, I am sure we will look at corporate social responsibility with a different perspective.”
