Our students get involved with various social projects, raising funds for those less privilieged.
1. Project Chirag
Rustomjee Business School is privileged to support Project Chirag, an initiative to light up Indian villages.

At Project Chirag, we believe tht "If it is to be, it is up to me." Religiously living by this code in our attempt to bring about rural transformation in India, Students in Free Enterprise at H.R. College has undertaken an initiative called Project Chirag - a model that aims at providing every rural household with their right to light.

This solution is delivered by providing Solar based home lighting syustems to the beneficiaries of this project, those who have had no access to electricity for decades together.

Project Chirag is not only conceptualised by the youth but, also, implemented by them at the grassroot level.

A unique feture of this initiative is the involvement of the differently-abled as an integral part of the project's value chain.

Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) is a registered charitable non-governmental organisation (NGO) working towards the Total Management of Cancer as a disease, which includes:

  • Spreading awareness on the dangers inherent in accepted social practices such as chewing of tobacco, early marriage, multiple pregnancies, etc, which are responsible for approximately 70% of cancers in India.

  • Initiating steps for the early detection of cancer since treatment at this stage leads to a cure in a majority of cases.

  • To provide complete assistance to cancer patients beyond that given by the medical profession, that is, taking a holistic approach, not attacking the malignancy in isolation.

4. Grass Routes

Grassroutes is a fellowship for urban educated youth to spend a summer working with change-makers and social entrepreneurs, who are creating sustainable, significant impact in different parts of the country. During their stay, the fellows work on a pre-defined project and in addition, don the role of social journalists – researching, understanding and capturing unheard stories from the grassroots – of people, places, challenges, solutions, hope and above all, the impact that individuals can create.

5. Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity invites all the interested to join hands to make its vision of “A world where everyone has a decent place to live”, a reality. Volunteers are its backbone who sustain its dream and materialize its vision into action. You can help Habitat India realize that vision by becoming a Habitat Volunteer!

The volunteer program seeks and mobilizes volunteers for a life-transforming experience, both for the volunteers and for the families whose homes they help build. It offers volunteers the chance to experience a unique camaraderie and build lasting friendships with fellow team members, and with Habitat home partner families. It is a journey that will transform your life.
